Online Business / Brick and Mortar Business
In deciding whether or not to start an online version of your brick and mortar business really does not take much thought especially when practically every household in the country has a computer hooked to the internet, though with this in mind I still hear the common phrase:
Why have an online business when no on will ever find me? People say that enough and they start to believe it though the reality is much different though online is no different than your other business so why do you always cut costs when it comes to your online business.
Most people with online business spend no money on advertising and marketing of there online business, in fact most people opt to think they can do it themselves. You can if you are willing to put the same time learning about the internet as you spent on learning how to properly run you other business but most people think that if they put up a site people will come and if they do not recieve vistiors, which most do not, they simply do not have a product that people want.
When developing your online business just like your brick and mortar business you have to be willing to spend a littler green the difference online is normally you do not have a mortgage payment and most standard sites can be developed for a few thousand dollars or even a few hundred dollars is you just buy a template and ad the text.
Once you complete your site though you cannot just sit and wait and hope visitors will come, think about it can you just sit at your regular business and have people walk in probably not! With a brick and mortar business you have a mortgage payment, advertising costs, employment costs and much more, with your online business to be successful you should have a site that is properly designed and developed, a lot some cash for site where you can hire a company to manage your site thus eliminating the employment cost attributed from having an employee do this for you and preferably someone familiar with proper optimization techniques. This way your site will actually get noticed online and in many cases you can a lot so much a much to this company for this service, say for instance you can budget no more than $400. per month for optimization and marketing the company you hire will give you a certain hourly rate and provide you so many hours of work not to exceed the $400. monthly marker.
Recently I was reading in an advertisement where someone was wanting a professional SEO specifically for placing Google adwords, well most SEO do this because people are a product of training but when you think about it would it not be better to rank for the keywords of choice apposed to paying for the words, honestly I guess if you are going after global terms it might be essential in the beginning to pay for the rankings but if properly done over time this would not even be needed. Search engines like you to think that the only way your site will ever get noticed is by paying for rankings, does this not sound somewhat familiar as before internet paper and televisions said the same about if you want to get your brick and mortar business noticed.
With internet and spiders at present you can obtain rankings by following some basic rules and if you do not have the time to learn the rules you hire a professional, just like in a brick and mortar business you hire an accountant to do your year end books, online you hire an SEO to get your site noticed online, this person works with the search engines day in and day out just like your work on building your business, training employee, etc. an SEO works and understand on how to properly attain rankings online.
Today it seem that everybody knows a good web designer but how many people no a good SEO, when hiring an SEO always ask to see the results of his work.
What results should you look for? First off and most important are his or her sites rankings and I do not mean for the site name but for what the site does. If your site is only able to be found by your name and not what you do then it is not properly optimized.
More to come!
