Advertising and your Business:

Today with more and more sites being search engine friendly you need to also understand how to properly put together advertising for your business to be effective in rankings to bring you customers to your site or sites. I have discussed this in prior blogs so I will not be going into any detail here on this subject. Today your ads also need to have quality content, proper keywords, titles in order to obtain the desired rankings.

Has your site been properly optimized?

Personally I have seen many sites that offer great content but are not properly optimized so basically the PR you are building just sits there on your page, additionally most people take there site very personally thinking everything is perfect then wander why they never make a sell as they are not willing to listen to someone on the outside looking in.

Now do not get me wrong, simply optimizing your site will not make instant sales but it is a step in the right direction. My lodging site provides me with an excellent source of revenue today as I receive a better part of my business from my business website, why? My site is optimized for every event in the area so consequently when someone does a search for an event they see me smiling back at them and usually I will make a couple sales through this method. Each page is optimized for different keywords and I do not over saturate any single page with to many keywords.

Advertising is changing:

Many people today are caught in the rut of the ancient ways of doing business and to pull them into the modern age is a huge task, thus building an internet business in an area where there is little understanding of the internet become a huge task.

As a business owner online an off I would like to deal locally though today most of my business comes from other areas as my location is moving toward the light but we are still in the dark. The light is coming but very slowly. Personally though I benefit from being in the light as it is a beautiful out here, you to can be in the light if you pursue your online business in an intelligent manner and take off the blinders, I have spoke about proper optimization many times through out other entries.

Ok, I got a littler bit off track with my rantings but I am back again to the subject of advertising. What form of advertising is good for me?

If you have an online business you need to advertise online so that you can benefit from the PR or for simpler terms the site rankings of the site you wish to advertise on. I have noticed today that advertising on smaller company sites today can offer you excellent value and will not break the bank. Make sure the site that you advertise on ranks for the keywords that they are going after. Please do not advertise on sites that simply send you out a letter via snail mail with out first checking the sites rankings for yourself.

I mean really, come on people? I receive at least one a month from an online directory wanting me to advertise my business with them, in checking there sites I noticed first off that they have no incoming links so the only business they are getting are the ones that receive the mailing. This is a prime example of what I stated earlier, lack of understanding of the net.

When advertising online you first must have a basic idea of how to look for value, do a search for keywords that you would look for your business.

Do you see the site that wants your advertising dollars anywhere on the first two pages? Probably not, so why would you give them your hard earned dollars when they cannot be found anywhere in searches relevant to your business.

Most if not all of my sites rank high for the keywords that I go after, honestly it does not matter the business you are in as I have many site online and they all rank well. Ranking well in itself though is only one facet of the growth of an online business; you have to constantly sell your business!

Everyone that walks through my door I give a card of my online business and tell them to tell there friends about me, additionally I attempt to educated them on the importance of keywords in finding a site. Most people may not remember my free advertising site, BuckeyeAds.com but they do remember to do a search for "Ohio Advertising" on Google and I rank usually 4 or 5 on this search or try "Ohio Classified Ads" where you will see me in usually number on spot.

Another one of my site FlipHomes.net also has attained great rankings and my listings are also growing, I am on the first page at the bottom usually but that varies for the term”Free Home Advertising" on Google again.

On my business site most people would not search for the direct name but simply for "Zanesville Ohio motel" or "Ohio Pottery Festival", there I am smiling at you again and I have been on top since my site went online though my page rank has varied greatly. Page rank online will not give you high ranking on the serps, but proper optimization can offer you this is you properly maintain your sites.
